Natural . History

My birthday was this past Monday, and while I was having dinner out with my parents, they gifted me with the most lovely, unique present: An Ostrich Egg!!!

It's an unfertilized egg (so no baby ostriches died, which was my first question) from a curator at the local zoo. I positively love it! It's now sitting happily in it's container on our living room bookshelf with all sorts of other natural curiosities, like coral and rose quartz.
