Nestled

This pretty little house is tucked away in the hills somewhere in Australia, and it's kind of wonderful. The house has clean, simple, and chic design. But then you toss in those views - I mean, amazing, right?

If I don't stop looking at real estate listings in Australia, I'm going to have my bags packed and be on a plane before I even know what's hit me.

Holy real estate jackpot! The townhouse where Holly Golightly lived in Breakfast at Tiffany's is up for sale!

Between this place and The American Horror Story house being up for sale, my money tree dollars are going to be stretched quite thin. Though when I tire of good old-fashioned haunting on the west coast, I can jet out east to spend some time on the fire escape with my guitar and cat.

Want It Now: Indoor Pool

Last Saturday I popped by the second day of an estate sale that was just a few minutes from my house. 50% off days are kind of great - there's not really the pressure to be there as early as possible + no having to fight people off for something specific you might want.

There were a few good things that I picked up, though the best was just getting to be in the house itself - they had an a.mazing indoor pool! Like, just add people + drinks and you'd have the coolest parties ever.

The house had already been sold - and only for a few hundred thousand above our budget - but now an indoor pool is on my "things I didn't know that I wanted but now absolutely need to have" list.

Headed to Church

Currently there are a number of churches in our area that have closed - due to the economy, I suspect - and the vacant brick buildings sit, sad little "For Sale" signs perched out front. Were it in my budget, one of them would be mine, mine, mine. It would be pretty marvelous to remake the inside of a church into a living space, such as the property above (located in Australia).

Vincent Street

I didn't buy any lottery tickets this week, though if I had, and I'd won a huge chunk of cash, I'd have a pretty little place in Australia coming my way. This particularly attractive property is located smack in the middle of two places that also sound irresistible: The Lost Children's Reserve and The Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens.

Property . Lust

I'm not saying that this is true across the board, but from what I can tell, people who are lucky enough to live in Europe seem to have an enviable problem when it comes to apartment searching: "Do I choose the insanely pretty apartment, or the other insanely pretty apartment?"

I feel that I have support for this, as the other day on Su Casa a woman was asking people to help her choose which apartment she should rent. I wanted to post that I would kill someone to be able to live in either, but then thought better of it.

My experiences with apartment hunting in Michigan have gone more like this: "Well, it's clean, and I could get used to the blood red color on the walls," or, "This is so pretty! I suppose one of us could get a second job to be able to pay for it."

I've tried to talk the boy into moving to Europe, but his only response has been a laugh that makes me think it's not happening anytime soon.

She . Lives . on . Love . Street

One of the things that I most enjoy seeing when I'm browsing really expensive real estate listings is the phrase: "Fixer-upper." I get that if you have pots of money, your standards are perhaps a smidge different from us "regular folk." HOWEVER, I have yet to see one of these "fixer-upper" homes that I would not rip the deed from the owner's hands and happily move myself right into!

Cottage . Living

The first thing I have to admit is that B. and I have WAY too much stuff to ever be able to only live in a cottage home. And we have to work really hard at being organized. But that doesn't stop me from lusting over these charming little abodes -- perhaps when we win lottery, we'll able to have one as a teeny vacation getaway!! {Because even if your cottage were only a few miles from your actual house, something that looks this magical would absolutely feel vacation-y!}

I've officially decided that while Nicholas Cage is free to buy however many houses he chooses, he's no longer allowed to decorate any of them. I sort of thought this when I saw his New Orleans house, and now after seeing the inside of his Bel Air mansion, I'm certain:





What is, by all accounts, a stunning house outside, has been done up to look like a cave on the inside. Kelly Wearstler where are you?

Bueller? Bueller?

The house that was used as Cameron's in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off is up on the market for 2.3 million. I love.love this movie, and I love.love this house -- I would absolutely buy this pretty little thing...






...if I had 2.3 million dollars, that is.

While . I'm . Dreaming...

...of really expensive real estate that I can't afford, I might as well dream big. I've always thought the idea of an English country house sounded nice -- just hop across the pond and spend some time summering in England.
