Gypsy . Glamour
While the SS 09 runway shows have been done and over with for some time, it's only just starting to make it to the kind of weather in which we can wear those pretty frocks.
Some of the loveliest clothes for spring have come from Alberta Ferretti:

In her eponymous line, she sent down model after model wearing gorgeous dresses reminiscent of the most glamorous parts of the 1920s.
In her more modestly priced line (and when I say modest, it's only in comparison to her other collection; a dress from Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti would still force you to choose between the garment and a month's worth of rent), she stuck with glamour, but went the route hippie/gypsy:

Le sigh...how I would love to spend the coming seasons frolicking about in these pretty little dresses.

Wallpaper
Last week, thanks so a crazy cool decorating post by Sara, I came across perhaps the coolest wallpaper site ever: Wallpaper from the 70s.
They have so many patterns that I'm smitten with, but since they're located in Germany, I wanted to look at some samples before ordering a few roles. While I don't know about boldly patterned wallpaper all over the house, I do know that I want to have one of the walls in my studio covered in a pretty paper.
First of all, these sample arrived fast...like, ridiculously fast. I ordered last Wednesday, and they were here (from Germany) today. Way to go for excellent customer service!

I'm really happy that I ordered samples, because some of the prints are a lot larger than I would have expected. While I like all of them, I'm leaning toward one of these two:

The gray floral was a favorite to begin with, and these are the two that go best with my newly decided upon color scheme.
But who knows, I'll probably end up changing my mind a dozen times before settling! I am starting to like that other black and white floral the more that I look at it...!

Love . These
Vogue Paris:

Numero Tokyo May 2009:

(I desperately want a leopard print dress from this Lanvin collection. I realize that it's pretty much exactly what MJ sent down the runways at LV like, a year ago, but I still love it)

Cabinet . of . Curiosities
Since we had the offer on the house accepted, I've been sorting through all manner of things: paint colors, wallpaper books and sites, the Ikea catalog, old issues of the sadly and recently deceased Domino, etc. etc.
There are so many different styles of design that I like, but for once I want to live in a place that feels unified. I want the rooms to have their own personalities, but I also think it's important that the rooms all feel as though they belong in the same house.
So I finally found the photo that will be the inspiration for the look and colors of the home:

I love the rich gray and the other bright pops of color, along with the botanical/natural elements. But now I have the work of actually figuring out how this will translate into different interior spaces, though at least I've got a start!
