Antiques and Doves

Trousers: Ann Taylor Loft; these are the most comfortable trousers ever, + I got them on sale for $20.00
Blouse: Vintage
Wedges: Proenza Schouler

Today I popped by the antique store to visit my mom while she was working. One thing I've noticed about the shop is that while there are loads of lovely people who come through, there is the occasional crazy. In particular, the crazies like to do one of two things: talk A LOT about how much they "know" about antiques, even though they have no intention of buying anything, or randomly bring up their pets.

The highlight of the visit though was seeing this pretty little grey dove who made her nest in a planter that's hanging outside of the door - she's sitting on a whole little grouping of eggs! I can't wait until there are fluffy little chicks to peep at!

Denim + Black Lace

Skirt: Vintage
Denim shirt: Men's X-Small from Kohls - snagged it for $6.00!!
Belt: ??
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Sunglasses: Target

Today was a "change clothes midway through the day" kind of day. When I left the house this morning a bit before 8am, it was a cruel 38 degrees out; when I got back just before 3pm, it was a warm and sunny 60 degrees. So while starting the day in jeans and a sweater was called for, a little switch to a skirt was needed later on.

Blossom

Every year the tree in my office courtyard unfolds into the prettiest pink blossoms you'd ever see. The rest of the courtyard is covered in bold mosses and winding ivy; even if the rest of the city had to be covered in snow and ice, I wish this one courtyard could stay flowering all year round.

Best { Below the Knee Skirts }

I'm crazy happy that this length of skirt is "in" this season. I know that some people think it rather dowdy, but when paired with ultra feminine details - lacy blouses, round toe pumps - I think it's kind of perfection.

Walkin . After . Midnight

When we were house hunting a couple of years ago, we looked for what felt like forever. When we first started, I thought one of the most important things would be to get a house that looked completely adorable on the outside (I'm maybe still not convinced that was the wrong thing). But ultimately choosing the right house came down to two questions: does the house have all or at least most of the features we hoped for, and more important, do we like the neighborhood we live in?

Because, lets face it, you make all the changes to a house that you want, but you're stuck with the location.

We got lucky and found a house in the same neighborhood that we'd been renting in, and we still love it here. We can walk to all manner of restaurants, shops, and cafes, + when the weather is nice, there are always people out. Early in the morning, late in the evening, people are out gardening, walking their dogs, biking... it's just a really friendly space.

Tonight was the first night that it's really been warm enough for us to want to walk about, and it was a positively lovely evening stroll indeed.

P.S. - Unfortunately the green house is not ours, but it was oh so pretty, and just begged to have its picture taken :)

Blog . Crush { The Daybook }

I recently stumbled upon The Daybook and was immediately overcome by Sydney's adorable + chic style, and have been reading through her charming posts for a couple of days now.

The blogosphere is now pretty much overwhelmed with personal style blogs, and there's just no way to keep tabs on them all. I think it's definitely the personality of the blogger that keeps and attracts an audience more than anything. Cute clothes are one thing, but style + seeming like a genuinely lovely person holds a bit more weight.

And so, with that in mind, Ms. Sydney goes into the Blogs I Love column.

New . Things

Spring is slowly - very slowly - but surely coming, and I can't help but be enamored with the bright colors in these pretty little fish necklaces (both from Forever21), Chanel's limited edition summer nail colors in Morning Rose, Mimosa, and Beige Petale, and these whimsical bee pins that were snagged on sale at Express.

I'm also over the moon about the travel plans that we've just made: we've rented a house in Montreal for a short while later in the summer, and not long after we're headed to The Czech Republic and Germany!! I'm not at all wishing the spring and summer away, but it is a nice little bit of adventure to look forward to!
