{High End}{Low End}

Most of the time I prefer fitted cardigans, but come the very cold weather I like nothing better than to stay cozy in oversized sweaters:

Boyy

I don't know how I've gotten by without knowing about the line of bags from Boyy. These bags are AMAZING. Fabulous leathers, great style, a bit rocker. Love.

My favorite style is the slash bag, which comes in a few different leathers, and is under $600!!!! Seriously? How is this gorgeous bag so inexpensive?? Christ, you can't get a wallet from Louis Vuitton for that! I really prefer the limited python version:

This version is a pinch more at $1100.00 (a drop in the bucket for a lux python bag), and so it probably won't come to live with me, but it's still gorgeous/gorgeous/gorgeous.

Honesty . Stamps

This post is written in the spirit of one of my favorite bloggers, Drollgirl. Her blog is always a spot of brightness in my day, and often the source of bunches of laughter!!

These are "honesty stamps" by Thorsten van Elten that can be purchased via Design Public. I have a strong desire to purchase the, "You are by far the most talented person I know" stamp, and simply ink that on the last page of all of my students' papers in lieu of useful commentary. Though since that could probably lead to me being fired, I may just have to settle for doing this in an imaginary world!

Cedric . Bihr

I love these images from French photographer Cedric Bihr

Check out the rest of his amazing portfolio here.

My . Exciting . News

I've signed up to take a French class this coming semester! As I haven't taken languages since high school, my foreign language skills are poor: I can now only say a handful of things in German, and am limited to talking about whether I feel happy or not.

I've wanted to learn more languages for awhile now, but whenever I start just by myself, it's difficult and I lose focus. So I figured I'd sign up for a class and force myself to learn something new!

Shop . Update

In preparation for the holidays, there are tons of new things being added to Pretty Little World Vintage! I have added (and will be adding) lots of colorful cardigans that are a blend of Alpaca and wool. This hand-inked bird print has also found it's way to the store:

Parisian . Blackbird . Inked . Art

Come take a peek!

Saturday = Art . Day

I'm a pretty hopeless crafter. Much of this stems from my inability to finish projects that I start. I get interested in something and then am just as quickly on to the next thing.

So yesterday morning I went to a mixed-media art class with Theresa, whom I absolutely adore. I had to bring a canvas and myself, and then there were loads of goodies that she brought with which we could make our art!

The fact that I had loose guidelines, a time limit, and help was the only reason that I managed to complete anything at all!

Mine is composed of bits of vintage images, sewing patterns, odd pieces from an old dictionary, and loads of rhinestones! My favorite thing about this project is that not a single drop of glue was used -- everything is done with wax!! Now it just needs some kind of wonderful vintage frame, and up on the wall it can go :)

Poor . Miss . Moss

Kate Moss has gone and gotten herself into a pinch of a situation by telling WWD that one of her mottoes is, “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.” Of course, she followed that up with, "You try and remember, but it never works," though I'm not sure that takes much of the sting out.

Certainly you can't please everyone all of the time, but I feel like Kate is getting the short end of the stick here. And before you get all "jumping down my throat," here's why I think that Miss Moss deserves a bit of a reprieve for her, "I maybe shouldn't have said that out loud AND to a journalist" moment:

1. Kate Moss is not a normal person. She gets paid MILLIONS of dollars to fit into teeny tiny clothes.

2. If Kate Moss had said, "Everyone should be happy with themselves, and weight doesn't matter," no one would believe her. Stories would crop up with things like, "That's easy to say when you're as skinny as she is."

3. When Kate Moss DID gain a smidge of weight...

... there were only two kinds of stories about her: "Kate Moss is getting heavier," and "Kate Moss is getting heavier so she must be pregnant."

She can't seem to win either way.

In a perfect world everyone would say things like, "I wish I were healthier," instead of, "I wish I were skinnier." But I'm not sure it's Kate Moss's fault that it isn't that way.

Love . it /Need . It

So I realize that the holidays are supposed to be the time of giving (and I do really like to give people gifts), but while I'm shopping for others, it's so difficult not to notice things that I might like as well! This is doubly bad, as I'm trying to be a better spender and a better saver!

However...

Vintage Fur Tweed Coat from Vera Vague

... who doesn't love something vintage with so much warm and furry goodness?? I've been pining over this coat since I first saw it and have managed to hold off so far! Though it's extra difficult, as this pretty little coat already lives in the same state as I do! {only 45 teeny little minutes away!}

Perhaps one of my loveliest readers will snatch it up first and save me from myself!! {Or someone might also realize what a lovely present under the tree this would make!}

DKNY . SS 2010

I don't know how I missed DKNY's SS 2010 collection when it debuted. Thankfully my new issue of Harper's had a picture of Chanel Iman backstage at the show, and this whole situation was remedied.

I am IN LOVE/LUST with this collection. The prints are bold but they're just so wearable!

I also strongly feel the need to get my hands on a pair of these floral pants and that striped sequin shirt -- I think this would be the perfect outfit for the holidays!! You could wear this to a party, out to dinner, and it would be the chicest way to dress for opening gifts on Christmas morning!!

Off to spend some more time hyperventilating....

Luminous

I don't usually wear things that are quite this girly, but I must admit that I'm smitten with the soft colors and pretty detailing on this shirt:

380 . Square . Feet...

... is the number of square footage that Kelly Breslin, Ryan Condon, and their 9-month old have in their California rental.

They make the tiny amount of space work by carefully editing their belongings (something I could probably do more of!).

My favorite piece of sage advice coming from Kelly has to do with how they raise their child in such a compact space: "People tell you need all this stuff for a baby," Breslin says. "All you really need is diapers, a place to change him and boobs." For more about their house and lives, read the Los Angeles Times piece here.

Room . for . Two?

When we head to B.'s family for the holidays, there are a lot of people there. So one of the most important things is to get there early and get a good room, so as you're not sleeping on the couch or on the foldout with the dog. We usually stay in a smaller upstairs room with wonderful creaky wooden floors, sloped ceilings, an old four-poster bed, and a little window that lets in just the right amount of light.

Where do you stay when visiting friends and family?
