Cozy

Photo: Seetal Solanki

This bedroom is kind of (okay, really) messy. My cats would wander through this and in like two seconds have knocked over half of the things there. But it's also the kind of room that I'd never want to leave.

I'm shortly off to teach, and then afterward headed to meetings, and then back home to package orders, then clean about the house for a bit. So I'll send everyone "Happy Weekend" wishes now!

Watching this is something that may never get old.

All vintage is marked 15% off through tonight!

Super neat article about nanomaterial.

Brianne's good thrifting karma came through again with these amazing finds for her new house.

If your feet are small enough, these amazing vintage platforms should be snatched up immediately!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Gone . Missing

This past Friday morning we headed up to Petoskey for the weekend. My aunt & uncle have a positively lovely condo that overlooks the waterfront. We planned on going to Art in the Park, and then just hanging about. We did all of this, except I was also hit by the absolute worst allergy attack ever. Big frowny face.

In between sneezing fits and congestion that felt as though someone had wrapped a wet towel around my head, we did manage to sneak in a handful of super fun things: a yummy dinner of homemade Florentine Lasagna, traipsing through some of the local art galleries, one of which yielded this 30" x 38" framed watercolor for only $25!!, and lots of wandering down by the breakwater, beach, and marina.

While I certainly could have done without the allergies, it was overall a very lovely weekend!

Have . a . Wonderful . Weekend!

Today I'm too exhausted to think about doing anything terribly worthwhile, so we're either going to go see The Social Network or Never Let Me Go. Saturday means one of the last trips to the farmer's market for the season, finishing work on cleaning/organizing the basement, photographing loads of new things for the shop (including a 1960s beaded mini dress that you won't believe!), and doing other odds and ends. Sunday we're headed to Ann Arbor for a record show, a bit of shopping, and some time with friends.

What's everyone else got planned over the next few days? Whatever it is, I hope it's wonderful!

Visiting

This past weekend was ridiculously busy: Friday night we drove to Detroit to see comedian Louis C.K., whom I think is absolute perfection. If you've never seen his stand-up (or even if you have), you can see a bit here - though be warned, it's probably not a work-environment-friendly video.

Saturday and Sunday morning were spent cleaning my basement, and it's still not done. It's one of those projects that feels quickly manageable, but then you start, and stuff seems to pour out of the walls and floors. Blah.

Sunday afternoon I got a call from a dear friend who just recently moved back to Michigan, and I drove up north to see her and her adorable children, Berlin and Elijah. We went for a walk in the woods, Berlin (who is 3) showed us how she dances like Michael Jackson, I got to lavish my favorite dog ever (Tucker, the Rottweiler) with attention, and we had loads of good conversation.

I hope that everyone else had a lovely weekend as well!!

Running . Errands . Outfit

Cardigan & Blouse: Vintage
Jeans: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Steve Madden
Bag: Louis Vuitton

Michigan's Indian Summer seems to have passed, as today it's back down into the 50s and appropriate weather for layering again. Even though it's Saturday, there seemed to be a lot going on: I went for a four mile run; cleaned a bit; the upstairs bath leaked water into the downstairs kitchen (so not good), and someone (who was also pretty cute) came over to see what the issue was (inexpensive, thankfully); then I dropped some things off at the thrift store and did a little thrifting myself (no good finds, boo); went to feed my parents' cats; and now am settling in for a bit of reading.

I hope that everyone else is having a wonderful weekend!!

Have . a . Perfect . Weekend

Today is the first day of my spring break -- no teaching for 11 more days!!! So I can relax most of the week, I've spent today in a flurry of chores: ironing, vacuuming, laundry, cleaning, etc. It's been busy but it feels SO good to have the house in order.

Tomorrow we're getting the new hardwood floors installed in the dining room (hooray!), and we're having a friend up for dinner over the weekend as well. I hope everyone's weekend is as lovely as can be!!
