It doesn't seem like an understatement to say that (were they not perishable) a collection of macaroons would be a perfect little piece of art!
Unfortunately, I don't actually like the way they taste. I was bitterly disappointed to discover this, but they turned out to be too sweet for my liking. And maybe too crunchy. I guess at heart I'm a soft.chewy cookie girl. Macaroons -- as pretty as they are -- just couldn't compete with the cookie that I could eat morning.noon.night:
The Black & White Cookie!! With its cakey goodness + vanilla and chocolate frosting...perfection.
What's your favorite cookie??

For some reason we call the black and white cookies "half moon" cookies in Boston. I love them too!!!
I agree with your macaroon paradox. Not such a fan of their marzipany/almondy taste. My favourite cookie is white chocolate and cherry.
--I like "half moon" cookie much better - it makes sound somehow more interesting than "black and white" cookie.
--White chocolate and cherry sounds amazingly good!!
macaroons are so gorgeous, but i don't want to eat them. BLECH. i like the choc chip cookie, or the ones with macademia nuts. or snickerdoodles. or or or. jesus, i am salivating.
Unfortunately for me, I love macaroons AND black and whites! and chocolate chip, and peanut butter, and oatmeal. i LOVE cookies of all kind!
