As we were driving around Cleveland, we cut through a little neighborhood and came across The Illuminating Company:



What it is is an out-of-business electric company, but what I imagine it to be is nothing of the sort. It's likely a secretive place that very few people are allowed into -- mostly only those who work there.

It's a place where very serious men in tweed sit pouring over massive volumes of all sorts of history, philosophy, and science:



They're a think tank (of the very literal sort), collecting knowledge, dreaming up ways to help illuminate other people.
