While I'm very happy with the house that B. and I bought this past spring, one of the features that I wish the house had is a fireplace. B.'s mom has a fireplace in her kitchen, and during the fall and winter it's where everyone gathers around -- day or night, a roaring fire is just so cozy!
Aw, I want a fireplace too! Lovely photos. I love gathering 'round the fire on a chilly winter day. Gas fireplaces are nice (and convenient), but nothing is as nice as the crackling glow of a real wood fire. I have rented and/or owned 9 houses, and have had no warm glowing fires to speak of. Several had fireplaces, but they were unsafe to use. Two were in really old homes and were designed for coal, therefore too small for a wood fire, and the other two needed new flu liners and we just couldn't afford to have one installed. One day we will have our fireplace!
P.S. I spy Hello Victory's arrows on the wall in picture #3!

Oh! How I long for a fireplace of my own! My inlaws also have one in their house, but never use it :o(
Just the mention of a fireplace warms me up -- can't wait for s'mores in the wintertime (or tonight?)
You know you can add a fireplace - gas is easiest - don't give up on it!
gorg!! i have a fireplace and must decorate better!
oh, these are all so fantastic!
i don't have a fireplace either. it doesn't really get very cold in los angeles, but it would sure be nice to have one when it does!
