How . Old . Are . You?

I just got done watching the second season of Gossip Girl on dvd. I LOVE Gossip Girl. The clothes, the feuding, the backstabbing, Ed Westwick, the love triangles, Ed Westwick.... This week I also caught the first episode of The Vampire Diaries (which was a little lackluster, and copied stories from about every other vampire story ever).

After watching both of these in short order, there was one thing that I had to wonder about: exactly how old are these characters?

They're supposed to be in high school, but apparently they all go to "I talk, dress, and carry myself like I'm 30" high school. It's really no wonder that adults watch these shows because none of the characters act the age they're supposed to be.

The only show I've seen where people act like high schoolers is The Hills, which is weird, because those girls actually are adults.

I sort of feel like Dawson's "Everyone's a Philosopher" Creek did this to teenage programming, but maybe I'm imagining things. This isn't really a complaint, I'm just saying....

This is so funny! :) How old are they? hee he.

I've never actually watched The Hills or Gossip Girl... but I swear, I've been tempted to watch GG simply because of the clothes... but now more so because of your post.

I agree. I caught 2 seconds of One Tree Hill the other day and I was like, "these guys are still in HS?!"

I think the only one on GG who is age appropriate is Little J.

*sigh* I know. That's kind of the reason why I can't get into Gossip Girl and other similar shows. I wonder the damage it does to kids growing up. It'd make them want to grow up a wee bit too fast, I think. God knows, I've love to be back in high school - no responsibilities, no drama etc etc

I know! I always giggle when they go to a bar and order a martini - they're supposedly 18 years old. Would they really be served, no questions asked?

I agree! My 16 yr old and I watch Gossip Girl and she's so excited that it's about to start a new season. She's SICK to death of my constantly chanting, "THIS IS NOT HIGH SCHOOL! Remember, do not live your live as these people do or model ANYTHING after it." Then she rolls her eyes. lol

It is fun to watch though, isn't it? :)

Blog looks nice, btw.

I saw Vampire Diaries too and I was disappointed - I had read the books when I was younger and LOVED them. The show changed too many things to be able to mainline it.

I love GG so much - I can't wait for tomorrow!

that always makes me laugh on that show (which i love!) but seriously - they'll be like in a bar with a martini...which fits...until you remember theyre supposed to be playing a 17 year old
